Hotel Varmaland opened in 2019 following extensive renovation of the former Húsmæðraskólinn (School for Housekeeping), originally designed by Guðjón Samúelsson and built in 1946. Great care was taken to preserve the building’s history and character while adding contemporary comforts and refined design.
